Peel CAS employees voted to reject their last offer

For immediate release
December 6, 2016

Peel CAS hoped to end the 12 week strike with CUPE Local 4914 by having employees vote on its last offer to the union on December 6, at a Ministry of Labour supervised vote.

“It’s been a long and difficult strike and with our last offer being rejected we must consider our options moving forward,” says Rav Bains, Chief Executive Officer, Peel CAS.  “We want the strike to end as soon as possible and get our employees back at work.”

CUPE Local 4914 has been on strike since September 19.  Until the strike ends, Peel CAS will continue to provide essential child protection services to the community.  “The care and safety of children and families we work with continues to be our priority,” says Bains.   “We encourage our community to continue to call with child protection concerns. We will be prioritizing and responding to urgent situations to ensure the safety of children in Peel Region.”
