Peel CAS was fortunate to have the support of the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board during Child Abuse Prevention Month in October. On DRESS PURPLE DAY - October 24, 2017, the community from St. Michael's Catholic Secondary School in Bolton came together to support the initiative.
Morning reflections and creative writing pieces written by students were shared as a means of promoting awareness and encouraging conversations to promote victims’ healing. Student council sold purple cookies (prepared by student hospitality classes) on all three lunches. Art classes got involved by painting an #iBREAKthesilence banner to encourage staff and students to tweet their support and funds were donated by those who dressed in purple. All efforts combined raised a total of $2790!
What an amazing effort by the St. Michael's school community!
