All children need a family. Whether through birth, a relative such as a grandparent, an adoptive or foster family, families come together in many different ways. Currently, Peel CAS is looking for people who are open to welcoming new members into their family through fostering, foster to adopt, or adoption.
Fostering and adoption have many things in common. They also have a shared goal – ensuring children have lifelong connections they can count on. This is referred to as ‘permanency’ and happens when children who have come into care are reunited with family or when Peel CAS helps children find a new permanent family.
It is important that we have families who reflect and understand children’s heritage, ethnic origin, culture, religion and language. One of our greatest challenges is to find caregivers and adoption families who are able to meet those needs. Currently, Peel CAS is experiencing a need for caregivers for older children, siblings, and children with special needs. For adoption, we are searching for black and bi-racial families as well as families for older children and sibling groups.
Getting the right information is key to knowing whether fostering, fostering to adopt or adoption is a possibility for you and your family. The goal of this site is to provide you with that information. Greater knowledge will allow you to make the right decision as to whether your family can commit in such a powerful and personal way.
