AODA - Phase 2

Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) Training Information

The Government of Ontario passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act in 2005. Its goal is to make Ontario accessible for people with disabilities by 2025, by creating and enforcing accessibility standards.

You have already received training on the Customer Service Standard, which was the first accessibility standard to become law as a regulation. The next set of accessibility standards are contained in one regulation called the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).

One of the requirements of this regulation is that all organizations must provide this information to employees, volunteers, foster parents and others on the requirements of the regulation as it relates to their duties.

This is a mandatory requirement.  You will need to read the following information provided in related documents section below:

  • General Requirements
  • Information and Communications Standard
  • Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities

Please return the signed document stating that you have read the IASR by the Ministry’s compliance deadline of December 31, 2014. Please contact Carol-Ann Fox, Volunteer Coordinator via phone at 905-363-6131 ext. 1423 or email at with any questions or concerns.
