Every October, we raise awareness about the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through the Dress Purple Day campaign. We are focusing on centering the voice of our children and youth where eradicating all forms of oppression, racism, intolerance, prejudice, and discrimination remains a top priority. Together we will continue to speak up for every child and youth’s right to safety and well-being in all spaces.
Create a video to share with your friends, loved ones, and neighbours the message that help is available, they are not alone, and you are part of the community that cares for children, youth, and families. By wearing purple and sharing the below images you are telling those that may be struggling that you are here to help.
The community image in the above social media photos was exclusively created by one of the former youth we supported, Shannia. Here's what she had to say about her beautifully crafted design:
"Given the opportunity, to create an art piece for Dress Purple Day made me reflect on what this day means to me. As a former youth in care for years, I have been fortunate enough to receive support through the agency such as tutoring, programs, financial aid, and art opportunities. The design shows all that I've been grateful for. It demonstrates the importance of community, knowing that you can ask for help, and highlighting those moments when humanity is shown by giving what you can and supporting those who need it."
Be sure to TAG US in your photos and videos of you wearing purple and demonstrating your support of the campaign!
