On Friday, March 21 we attended a press conference announcing Peel Regional Police's launch of their new youth engagement strategy! We are so proud to continue to work together to support youth from a preventative lens, empower their voices, and provide meaningful opportunities to help them build bright futures.
The Youth Engagement Strategy will guide PRP’s involvement with youth in the Region of Peel over the coming years. It provides a number of high-level actions that will be carried out in consultation with community partners and youth, including establishing a youth mentorship program, providing training opportunities for PRP members to better engage with youth, and strengthening support to youth affected by hate and bias.
The strategy builds on Peel Region's community safety and well-being framework, as well as several existing programs and initiatives geared towards positive youth engagement.
Check-out the Real Peel Talks: Path to Youth Engagement which was the community-based research project about youth safety and engagement with police in Peel Region commissioned by Peel Regional Police to assist in the development of the Youth Engagement Strategy.
Many thanks to CBC News Toronto for helping to spread the word so that children, youth and families know there is a community of care out there to support them and together we are here to help.
