While 98% of our work is done with children, youth and families in their own homes, there are times when children and youth cannot remain with their primary caregivers. If there are no kin placements available, we turn to foster families to provide temporary care. These caregivers offer safety and stability during a challenging time.
This year the Family Connections team celebrated our caregivers and their families with a day of fun at Downey’s Farm earlier this month, and an appreciation luncheon is being planned for November.
We are always looking for more foster families, especially for children with complex needs, teens and sibling groups. Caregivers with experience working with young people with medical or behavioural challenges are preferred. If you know anyone who might be interested in becoming a caregiver, please refer them to our website for more information: https://www.peelcas.org/service/fostering-adoption/couldyoubeafostercaregiver
