National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, is a time to recognize and celebrate the individuals who generously give their time, energy, and compassion to strengthen our communities. This year’s theme, “Ignite Volunteerism" calls on all of us to reconnect with our communities through acts of service, civic participation, and mutual support.
This national campaign, led by Volunteer Canada, encourages people from all backgrounds to rediscover meaningful ways to give back. Whether through small, everyday acts or long-term commitments, volunteerism remains a powerful force for building resilient, connected communities. At Peel Children’s Aid Society, we are part of a broader network of community-based organizations working together to support the safety, well-being, and belonging of children, youth, and families. Volunteers are a vital part of everything we do. They help create stability, build relationships, and foster a sense of belonging for children and youth while providing support to families. Volunteerism is more than an act, it is a commitment to community. It strengthens social connections, supports well-being, and helps ensure that families can access the resources they need, when they need them.
At Peel CAS, our volunteers contribute in many ways:
As Tutors and Mentoring children and youth
Supporting transportation and access to services
Assisting with programs and events
While these roles may look different, together they form something powerful: a network of care that enhances everything we do. Volunteering is not something you simply do on the side—it becomes part of who you are. It shapes how you see your community, how you show up for others, and how you understand what truly matters. Volunteer contributions may take many forms, but together they create connection, compassion, and stability for children, youth, and families who need it most. Thank you to our volunteers, your commitment strengthens our community and creates a lasting impact that is felt every day.
Join us in celebrating and thanking the volunteers who make this work possible! Together we recognize the remarkable longevity of their service, spanning 5 to 45 years, and the meaningful difference they have made in the lives of children, youth, and families across our community.
We are so proud to share some of their stories with you:
