Volunteer Position Description
Description & Expectations:
- Work on a one-on-one basis with a child experiencing learning challenges
- Build a positive relationship with the child
- Help improve a child’s self-esteem, self-confidence and initiative
- Help improve and enhance a child’s ability to establish positive relationships with peers and adults
- Act as a role model displaying consistency, problem-solving skills, use of community resources, socially acceptable behavior, responsibility, etc.
Supervised By:
Social Worker
Qualifications Required:
- Some post secondary education
- Previous experience working with children and tutoring as asset
- A basic knowledge of primary level subjects
Time Required:
- 1 or 2 hours weekly
- Minimum six months to a year commitment
Training Provided:
- Basic Orientation – mandatory
