We believe that children and youth belong at home and with their families. We work with parents, caregivers, children, youth and other service providers to build a safe and strong community. Our goal is to partner with families to increase safety and strengthen the well being of children and youth.
There are many reasons why families may need the help of Peel CAS. Families may get stressed and overwhelmed with a variety of challenges. Different areas of stress can include poverty, unemployment, ill health, domestic violence, mental health issues, or caring for a child who has serious physical, emotional or developmental difficulties. We are here to answer questions or concerns about children and provide support to strengthen families.
Our goal is to keep children and youth with their families whenever possible. If a child or youth is not safe in their home, we engage the family and their support system to keep children in familiar environments, where they have established relationships; these are referred to as kin arrangements. If this is not possible and children are placed with foster caregivers, we strive to place children and youth with families who share their culture and identity. We recognize the importance of culture and tradition and match children and youth in the best way possible to meet their needs.
We believe that children belong with their families, and 99 per cent of our work is done with families and children in their own homes.
If you are concerned about a child or youth, we can help.
