A new school year should be a time of excitement, possibility and new beginnings. But for some children and youth in Peel, the cost of back-to-school essentials can create an added financial burden for families.
Through the Back to School Program, Peel Children’s Aid Society and Peel Children’s Aid Foundation are working with our community to help children and youth return to school with the supplies they need to feel prepared, confident and included.
Each year, the program provides children and youth connected to Peel CAS with essential school supplies, including backpacks and other items needed for the classroom and school day. This year, the goal is to provide 800 fully equipped backpacks to children and youth across Peel.
Community members, businesses and organizations can support the program by donating new and unopened school supplies.
Items needed include:
Backpacks
Pencil cases
Lunch bags
Calculators
Coloured pencils and crayons
Rulers
Paper and notebooks
Math sets
1-inch, three-ring binders
Construction paper
Erasers and sharpeners
Donations can make a meaningful difference in helping a child begin the school year feeling prepared and supported.
Those interested in donating new and unopened school supplies can arrange a drop-off by contacting Tania Kolar, Executive Director, at TKolar@peelcas.org by August 21.
For many families, purchasing everything a child needs for a new school year can be challenging. Having the right supplies can help children feel a sense of confidence, dignity and belonging as they return to the classroom.
Through the Back to School Program, community support helps remove some of those barriers and gives children and youth the opportunity to focus on learning, growing and being part of their school community.
Peel Children’s Aid Foundation is the fundraising partner of Peel CAS, raising funds to support programs and services that help eliminate barriers and create opportunities for children, youth and families in Peel.
Together, we can help thousands of children and youth start the school year ready to learn, grow and succeed.
