The Foundation works to raise funds to support innovative and urgently needed programs and services for children, youth and families involved with Peel Children’s Aid (Peel CAS). Staff at these sister organizations joined together in a fundraising challenge that surpassed its original $10,000 goal in one week. The overall goal of $250,000 raised from the COVID-19 Emergency Fund will provide more than 400 families and 200 youth with grocery gift cards, disinfectant supplies, clothing, cell phones, toiletries, baby formula, and other emergency needs.
“Our team of front-line workers continue to ensure the safety and well-being of children, youth and families during this unique time in our history,” said Rav Bains, CEO, Peel Children’s Aid. “The staff at Peel CAS and Peel Children’s Aid Foundation have rallied behind one fundraising campaign to help make a difference in the lives of our region’s most vulnerable. Together, we are here to help.”
“The success of this campaign speaks to the heart and passion of our employees and community partners,” said Renae Addis, Executive Director, Peel Children’s Aid Foundation. “Conagra Brands, Bond Brand Loyalty, Telus, and the Region of Peel have also made significant donations to our COVID-19 Emergency Fund which has raised over $116,000 to date.”
The COVID-19 Emergency Fund is just one initiative in a long list of specialized programs that the organizations are offering community members at this time. In partnership with the Mississauga Convention Centre, the Foundation’s staff and volunteers also deliver MCC donated meals to 45 families each week.
Peel CAS has modified its service strategy to be able to work remotely and continues to provide 24/7 support and responsive services to the community. If you have concerns over the safety or well-being of a child or youth in your community please contact your local Children’s Aid Society.
