Bisexual Day of Visibility

This day is celebrated to remind people of the history and struggles faced by the bisexual community. A bisexual person is someone who is not exclusively attracted to people of one particular gender. Three bisexual advocates, Wendy Curry, Michael Page and Gigi Raven Wilbur organized the first bisexual day. The founders were especially concerned about the various experiences of marginalization and discrimination that bisexuals face from not only the straight community but also from the 2SLGBTQ+ community. In 1999, the day was officially observed by the International Lesbian and Gay Association Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
